Art Blakey Straight Ahead (Purple Quiex)

Recorded live at Keystone Korner, San Francisco, California, June 1981. Original 1981 FIRST U.S. pressing on Concord Jazz. Pressed on translucent (when held to light) PUPLE QUIEX VIRGIN VINYL. Vinyl has a few light surface sleeve scuffs and light sleeve hazing holding grade back that may cause light background noise. Labels are excellent with the exception of a small faint ink stamp on Side One label. Original Concord inner sleeve has light handling wear and creased corners. Cover has heavy cornerwear, heavy edgewear, heavy ringwear/hazing, a small sticker upper left corner of front cover, another sticker upper right corner of front cover, a small ink stamp center of back cover, and writing in permanent pen/marker left edge of back cover.

If you’re not familiar with Quiex, it's like this: As CDs began coming on the scene in the 1980s, record companies started pressing Quiex II lps for primarily for radio stations. The idea was to show that vinyl was still king and sounded as good--or better--than CDs. MOST Quiex pressings were marked as Quiex that were shipped to radio. But if too many were pressed, they were packaged as regular LPs and those lucky enough to unknowingly buy them were then blessed with clearer sound! This translucent brown Audiophile beauty IS one of those pressings.
